Overview
A group is a place for members to meet and collaborate on the platform. There are many different types of groups that you can join, such as study groups, interest groups, business groups, and course groups.
My groups
To view groups, hover over the Groups tab on the main navigation menu.
- If you are already a member of a group, it will display in the list.
- To see a list of available groups, click Catalog.
- If you know the access code of a specific group, click Join.

Group features
When you click on a group, the News page will display by default. The News feed aggregates the main contents of the group, announcements, today's events, and upcoming events.
Depending on the setup of the group, the following features may also be available in the Groups menu:
- Dashboard: A splash page that displays a course overview and assorted widgets available in the course.
- News: A list of the latest posts, announcements and events for the group. If allowed, click + Post to post to the group News feed.
- You can also like and comment on other user's posts.
- Blogs: A page dedicated to group related blogs.
- Calendar: A calendar of events related to the group.
- Members: A list of all group members, including message functionality.
- Assistant: A list of group assistants
- Leaders: A list of group leaders.
- Admins: A list of group admins.
- Resources: Documents and videos related to the group.
- Games: A breakdown of your progress, badges, and points related to group games.
- Forums: Group related forum discussions.
On the group's landing page, widgets display in the right column.
The widgets that display are dependent on the setup of the group, but common widgets include:
- Activity widget: A list of the latest group activity, which updates every second.
- About: An overview of the group.
- Announcements: Group announcements from administrators.
- Group game: Points and progress in the group's game.
